The Higher National Diploma Programme in Computing extends a learner’s prior knowledge of systems analysis, network design, database design, programming and management information systems. Group work and work experience are integral components of the programme.

Graduates of the Higher National Diploma in Computing will be able to meet the professional requirements of a bilingual (English and Arabic) business environment. Graduates will have life-long learning skills with an emphasis on applied analytical and conceptual skills that are developed in authentic work-related situations and in genuine investigative project work so that they can advance into management information systems careers with local and international organisations in the United Arab Emirates.

Graduates will have skills in analytical and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, preparation and presentation of business reports, effective use of communication and information technology for business applications and project management.

Graduates may pursue bachelor degrees in computer science and information technology or careers in computing and information technology.

Admission

The Higher National Diploma Programme in Computing is open to national and non-national residents with a National Diploma or equivalent. Admission to the programme is based on performance on a NIVE diagnostic assessment test for communication in English and mathematics.
